Funny things are to be heard and read when idioms are translated directly, i.e. word
by word. I´m afraid, folks here in Germany are known to be notorious for direct translations not
watching out for idioms. There is a series of funny books for all those who cannot talk english properly
called "English for runaways", which is an idiotism for "advanced English" (fortgeschritten = stepped ahead = run away).
Those books are quite a success here.
